Zheng Fan is currently a fourth year PhD candidate, under the supervision of Professor Antonio Trani at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Before coming to Virginia Tech, she completed her master program at San Jose State University for Engineering Management and has conducted research in the Human Automation Integration Lab at San Jose State University for one-year. Her doctoral work explores the potential wake encounters in current and NextGen flight operations. She is being study on the wake model to detect and simulate the potential wake hazard area generated by the aircraft. The aim is to predict NextGen capacity benefits from the new separation standards generated from the model.
