This multi-year effort has yielded considerable insight into airfield and terminal area operations, which will form the core of Thomas' doctoral work. Between his time at Cornell and Virginia Tech, he has gained experience with AMPL, MATLAB, STATA, JMP, ProModel and Microsoft Visual Basic.

Thomas currently serves as Webmaster of ATES, the Alliance of Transportation Engineering Students at Virginia Tech. He also is a member of the Virginia Beta chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
