Susan Hotle is an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and a member of the National Center of Excellence for Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR II). She received her Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, where her research focused on customer online behavior in the airline industry. Through her work with the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP) and the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Graduate Research Award, Susan analyzed multi-airport choice as well as incorporated price endogeneity into airline search and purchase demand models for online booking channels.

Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Susan supported the Federal Aviation Administration's Office of Performance Analysis as a GRA, Incorporated contractor. Her experience included calculating unimpeded taxi-out times, quantifying delay, and comparing the results with Europe and Singapore. Also, she collaborated with the European Commission and EUROCONTROL to internationally benchmark U.S. air traffic operations, where results are published in the 2015 Comparison of Air Traffic Management-Related Operational Performance: U.S./Europe report.
